Sweden's national museum of naval history. The exhibition Ytspänning recalls the 1981 grounding of the Soviet submarine U137 in Gåsefjärden.
Stortorget and its churches
The main square has two Baroque churches designed by Nicodemus Tessin the Younger: orange, twin-towered Fredrikskyrkan and Trefaldighetskyrkan, known as the German Church.
Amiralitetskyrkan and Rosenbom
A red-painted wooden church from 1685, one of the largest in Sweden. Outside stands Rosenbom, the statue from The Wonderful Adventures of Nils.
Out to the archipelago
Skärgårdstrafiken boats and the Aspö ferry take you out to the islands. On Aspö you will find Drottningskärs kastell, a well-preserved 17th-century fortification.
