Things to do in Linköping
Gamla Linköping
An open-air museum in the west of the city, made up of houses moved here from the old centre. Around 30 flats are still lived in, and there are shops and craft workshops.
The cathedral
Work on Linköping Cathedral began in the early 12th century, and its spire, added in 1886, reaches 107 metres. Pair it with the Slotts- och domkyrkomuseet, the castle and cathedral museum.
Air Force Museum
Flygvapenmuseum sits by the Malmen military airfield west of the city and covers military aircraft from the pioneer era to the JAS 39 Gripen, several of them the only examples in the world.
Berg locks
At Berg, north of Linköping, a flight of locks and two double locks on the Göta Canal raise or lower boats a total of 28.8 metres. Watch them go through from the bank during the canal season.

When to go
Best timeMay to September
That is the Göta Canal season, when boats work their way through the Berg locks, busiest from mid-June to mid-August. The rest of the year the city runs more on university life.
