Things to do in Stockholm
Walk Gamla stan
The city was founded in 1252 and its medieval core still sits on the central island. Start at Stortorget, the main square, and wander the lanes around it.
Vasa Museum
The warship Vasa sank on her maiden voyage on 10 August 1628 and was raised largely intact in 1961. It is the most visited museum in Scandinavia.
Skansen on Djurgården
Skansen opened in 1891 as an open-air museum and zoo. You will find old buildings and Nordic animals such as elk, brown bears and reindeer.
Boat to the archipelago
Publicly owned Waxholmsbolaget boats link the city with thousands of islands. Vaxholm, Grinda and Sandhamn are well-known stops.
